The Virology/BSL 3 Tissue Culture Core Laboratory provides testing services, blood and blood cell products and other specialized services to research labs working with HIV and other related viruses. A dedicated and fully stocked BSL 3 level lab is also maintained and made available to researchers conducting independent experiments. We are able to assist individual researchers with special projects related to HIV detection.
All lab services are provided on a recharge basis.
The Virology Core services include:
- P24 ELISA testing

Leukopack procurement (in conjunction with the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center) and peripheral blood mononuclear cell preparation
- Phlebotomy service for recruited normal donors
- Specialized media preparation
- HIV viral load testing
- Use of real-time PCR machines (ABI Taqman and BioRad IQ)
